The Spirit is one of the most terrifying killers in the horror game Dead by Daylight. She can sneak up on survivors rapidly using her ability, ensuring she can get a hit on unsuspecting players.

Though the Spirit is strong, she isn't particularly easy to play, as you need to know how to predict survivors' movements accurately. This means you may want to use a strong loadout to boost your chances of winning. Here is your guide to The Spirit, including her power, perks, and the best loadout available for her.

The Spirit Power And Perks

To pick out the best perks for The Spirit, you'll first need to understand her power and how it works so you can think about how the game's many perks may be able to complement it.

You should also learn more about The Spirit's own teachable perks since they come with the killer by default and can be used together to earn Adept Spirit.

Let's go over all of The Spirit's perks:

Spirit Fury

  • After breaking a few pallets, the next time you are stunned by a pallet, it is instantly broken by the Entity.

Hex: Haunted Ground

  • Two trapped Hex Totems spawn in the Trial. When one of them is cleansed, all Survivors suffer from the Exposed status effect for a short duration.

Rancor

  • You become obsessed with one Survivor. Each time a generator is completed, all Survivors' locations are revealed to you. Once all the generators are completed, the obsession has the Exposed status effect and you can kill the obsession.

The Spirit's power is called Yamaoka's Haunting, which allows her to quickly and sneakily approach survivors. 

The in-game description reads:

Yamaoka's Haunting

  • Yamaoka is the name she carries from her ancestors, who unleashed hell on the battlefield. The Spirit draws her power from their wrath, haunting the living as retribution for her suffering.

  • The Spirit can use Yamaoka's Haunting to enter the Ethereal Plane and re-appear at a new location.

  • Press and hold the Power button to charge Yamaoka's Haunting. The Spirit will depart her physical body, leaving behind a stationary 'Husk' that fades once Yamaoka's Haunting has elapsed.

Spirit is a highly mobile killer in Dead by Daylight, allowing her to move around the map and attack survivors rapidly. 

That said, she is a pretty versatile killer, and Spirit players have the privilege of being able to experiment with lots of different loadouts. Here are just a few of the best possible builds for Spirit. 

Beginner Spirit Build

When starting as a new Spirit main, it can be hard to figure out what perks to use. That's why we've put together this beginner Spirit build using only perks that come with The Spirit or can be found in any killer's Bloodweb.

  • Hex: No One Escapes Death

  • Jolt

  • Sloppy Butcher

  • Bitter Murmur

Jolt and Sloppy Butcher provide slowdown throughout the match, slowing down generators and preventing survivors from rapidly healing. Bitter Murmur will help you consistently locate survivors, ensuring you get value out of your Yamaoka's Haunting. Hex: No One Escapes Death is there to help you end-game in case you struggle throughout the match.

Pallet-Eating Spirit Build

The Spirit has one major enemy: pallets that stand between her and survivors. This build counters survivors' main plan of attack, allowing this killer to rapidly eat through pallets and down survivors. 

  • Hex: Blood Favour (The Blight)

  • Hex: Undying (The Blight)

  • Hex: Pentimento (The Artist)

  • Deadlock (The Cenobite)

Most of the perks in this build are Hexes, meaning it seems to be a pretty risky one to run if survivors start cleansing them. But don't worry - that's where Hex: Pentimento comes in, punishing survivors with major slowdown if they choose to cleanse Blood Favour. And even if they do cleanse it, Hex: Undying is there to bring it right back up.

  • Jolt

  • BBQ & Chili (The Cannibal)
  • Corrupt Intervention (The Plague)

Corrupt Intervention, Jolt, and Pain Resonance all provide slowdown, while BBQ & Chili ensures you can keep track of survivors throughout the match to land those hits.
