What is Feast of Winter Veil in WoW Lore?
The Feast of Winter Veil is, quite obviously, a festive season event taking place at the end of the year, filled with snowball fights, festive colors, and more.
In terms of WoW lore, the term "Winter Veil" can be traced back to a being called Greatfather Winter, and it means a blanketing of the land in snow.
Citizens of Azeroth see this as a time of celebration and renewal. It is a time of change for many races, including the Tauren and Dwarves, who believe in Greatfather Winter.
Snow across Azeroth, according to legend, is cast over the land by Greatfather Winter with his cloak. As areas lay under the snow, the lore describes it as a chance for renewal and rebirth.
As Greatfather Winter covers the land in snow, he provides a bountiful feast to those who welcome him, where all the tasty treats and snacks come in during WoW's Feast of Winter Veil.
WoW Feast of Winter Veil Start & End Dates
At the time of writing, the official start and end dates for the Feast of Winter Veil 2022 in WoW have not been revealed.
However, going by historical data, we expect Feast of Winter Veil to have a start date window of mid-December 2022, which will likely end on 2nd January 2023. The most probably start date for 2022's Feast of Winter Veil is 16th December 2022.

Snowball Fights & Grumpling pet
Let's get the most annoying feature of Feast of Winter Veil out of the way. The pesky snowball fights knock players back, causing cause in battleground PvP...
Yes, Snowballs will return in Feast of Winter Veil 2022. Players can purchase Snowballs from Vendors and loot some from Holiday Snow piles found in Alterac Mountains, which is also where you will find The Abominable Greench NPC.
There are also more powerful snowballs, including the Huge Snowball, Yellow Snowball, and Savage Snowball. These can be found by looting Holiday Snow piles in Frostfire Ridge. In these Holiday Snow piles, players have a minor chance of finding the Grumpling pet for the WoW pet collectors.
WoW Feast of Winter Veil 2022 Special Gift
Each year's Feast of Winter Veil in World of Warcraft has a special gift for players participating in the festivities.
In 2021, it was the Rockin' Rollin' Racer Pack, a new version of the Crashin' Trashin' toys of the past. You could customize its color, and it also had various battle modes.
At the time of writing, the special gift for WoW's Feast of Winter Veil 2022 was not revealed. We will update this section as soon as information becomes available.
WoW Winter Veil Gifting Dates & Gift Types
While the Feast of Winter Veil 2022 begins on 16th December, you will have to wait until 25th December for your presents...like a good little orc.
Players will find the Greatfater Winter tree in the capital cities, with presents underneath. Once you open a present, a quest will start. Complete the tasks, and presents will unlock for all your characters. The presents include:
- Carefully Wrapped Present
- Gently Shaken Gift
- Winter Veil Gift
- Festive Gift
- Gaily Wrapped Present
- Ticking Present
There are many rewards to get from opening these presents during the Feast of Winter Veil 2022, from festive cosmetics to consumables. Our favorite is the Snowmaster 9000 engineering schematic, which creates a device allowing you to turn water into snowballs.
These gifts also have a very small chance of being found in Stolen Present items but don't get your hopes up. You have until 2nd January 2023 to claim all your gifts.
Winter Revelers Locations in WoW
Do you want to kiss a Reveler during the Feast of Winter Veil? Then you are in luck. It is easy to find all the Winter Reverler locations in World of Warcraft since they appear in all Inns across Azeroth.
They are located under a "Sprig of Mistletoe". Players can simply /kiss, and they will be rewarded with:
- Mistletoe
- Fresh Holly
- Handful of Snowflakes
The only downside is that you can only kiss a Reveler once an hour, thanks to a debuff applied to your character.
Winter Veil Garrison items & Merry Supplies
Collecting Merry Supplies during the Feast of Winter Veil event can get you some festive Garrison decorations and items.
Pick up daily quests from Pizzle and Almie, who will send you to Frostfire Ridge. The quests are:
- Grumpus - x2 Merry Supplies.
- Menacing Grumplings - x1 Merry Supplies.
- What Horrible Presents! - x1 Merry Supplies.
- Where Are the Children? - x1 Merry Supplies.
With these Merry Supplies, you can purchase the following items at your Garrison:
- Old Box of Decorations
- Festive Outfits
- Little Helpers
- Imported Trees
- Ball of Tangled Lights
Each of these festive items costs 5 Merry Supplies, so to get them all, you will need to complete 25 Daily Quests.
Giant Snow Globes in WoW Winter Veil 2022
Lastly, there are also Giant Snow Globes that players can step into. These provide "a truly transformative experience letting your inner Greatfather Winter helper out. A little /dance will spread joy to those around you."
You dance and get festive. It's a place to gather, chat with others, drink Greatfather's Winter Ale, or eat festive WoW food such as Graccu's Homemade Meat Pie.
Giant Snow Globes can be found in the following areas:
- Ogrimmar overlooking the Valley of Wisdom.
- Outside of Ironforge Bank.
- Broken Isles in Dalaran.
From toys to general goods, pets, festive food and drink, and much more, there are hundreds of WoW Feast of Winter Veil items to use and enjoy in 2022's version.
Further, remember that players can find a tonne of holiday hats by slaying dungeon bosses. There's a very small chance the holiday hats (red or green) can also drop from humanoid enemies. Lastly, players can visit a PX-238 Wintervolt machine in cities to become a Little Helper. You can also add one to your Garrison.
