The horror game Phasmophobia took Twitch and the internet by storm after the game's release in 2020, and its player base has only increased since then. As more and more people hop on Phasmophobia to try it for the first time while other players log in for their thousandth game, developers are still regularly updating the game for all to enjoy.
That said, Kinetic Games' plans for updating the game in 2022 didn't exactly go to plan. The original roadmap released earlier this year fell through, with developers being unable to fulfill some promises, so a new roadmap was recently released. Let's take a look at the updated Phasmophobia roadmap to see what is in store for players for the rest of this year, as well as the next.

The Old Phasmophobia 2022-2023 Roadmap
The original 2022 Phasmophobia Major Update Roadmap slated the VR Rework update for early in the year, with a mid-2022 custom difficulty update and a late-2022 release for the progression update.
Things did not go as planned, though, with the Kinetic Games team needing to work longer on the VR overhaul than originally intended.
"Originally the VR overhaul was planned to release earlier than April, allowing us to get knee-deep into Custom Difficulty's development," the team explained. "As it took longer, we pushed Custom back a couple of months and gave the community three smaller patches of content to fill the gap in content."
Let's go over the updated future release dates for these much-wanted features.
April 2022 Phasmophobia Updates (v.0.6.0) - VR Overhaul

May - July 2022 Phasmophobia Updates (v.0.6.1-3) - Minor Patches

Some features, like the progression update, have been long-awaited by fans. They will need to wait even longer, according to the updated roadmap, as this feature was originally set to be released late this year but will not be available until 2023. It's likely that the wait will be worth it, though, as the progression update is one of the game's biggest changes since its release.
That's all you need to know about what's in store for the next few months and the next year, 2024, for Phasmophobia. Stay tuned for more information as we learn more from the developers themselves about the upcoming updates.
