Genshin Impact's next content update for 2023 will be released soon with new content and plenty of adjustments and balance changes. The 3.8 update has finally launched as the 3.8 Special Program livestream revealed new in-game content for the game.

As we welcome the new in-game content to Teyvat in the 3.8 update, including new characters, events, and banners, there will be plenty of adjustments and bug fixes added to the game soon. We'll list all the upcoming content, adjustments, and balance changes detailed in the latest patch notes for Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact 3.8 Patch Notes – All New Content

The next update for Genshin Impact has launched on 5th July 2023; however, we can expect new in-game content, including new banners, weapons, events, and many rewards. Below we have detailed some of the latest inclusions in the 3.8 update for Genshin Impact based on the announcements made during the 3.8 Special Program livestream.

New Character Event Wish Banners:

The 3.8 Special Program livestream confirmed the long-awaited return of Eula for the Character Event Wish Banners; however but she won't be alone. Other characters gaining banner re-runs for this update are Klee, Sangonimiya Kokomi, and The Wanderer for Travelers to try wishing for them once again.

New Events:

Kaeya, who appeared during the 3.7 flagship event, returns to the game in the update’s next Hangout Events. Those who wish to spend more time with the Captain of the Knights of Favonius should save up their Story Keys. 

The 3.8 update’s flagship event, “Secret Summer Paradise,” will be centered around a theatrical play alluded to during the 3.8 Special Program livestream. Taking place inside a bottle, this secret location called Bottleland is said to be hidden somewhere in the desert, with location-exclusive items to be found and collected.

These items can be exchanged for various rewards, including the new character outfit for Kaeya as well as enhancement materials. To obtain these items, there will be specific tools available in-game, which makes it easier to find them on the map without having to search high and low for them.

Some of the game modes included feature projectors where Travelers can insert an object within the streaming projector; a replica will be reconstructed and display its 2D form called Pre-prints. You can enter the projector to interact with the world; however, to move the objects around, you'll have to leave the Pre-print world and move them before heading back inside the projector.

A Choo-Choo Cart will also be available for your to utilize during this event, helping Travelers navigate their way around Bottleland. There will be stations established, giving you direct access to the cart but do ensure you're strapped in, as this ride can be full of twists and turns.

The flagship event will have several mini-events available for you to earn various rewards while in Bottleland. Spino Blaster is a water-cannon shooting event where you'll be using a cannon to shoot at various targets displayed in front of you.

Sojourns of the Barking Fox will see you controlling a barking fox through a series of rings or projections of Adventure Coins and collecting them within a time limit and before reaching their destination. There will be projections and Disruption Orbs that will hamper your travels as you must best avoid them or lose out on those Adventure Coins, decreasing your time and overall score.

Dance of Flashing Thought is a combat mini-event that is hosted on a stage floor where you'll be using combat mechanics inspired by the art of theatre. Assemble your party line-up to best suit the mini-event's unique features across multiple stages, as you'll need to collect Horned Will by defeating enemies.

Horned Will can be turned into Honed Focus effects which can be used for multiple purposes to help with defeating enemies. Bing-Bang Finchball, which appears to be inspired by foosball and curling, where you'll have to launch Finchballs into high-scoring zones to accumulate the highest overall score and complete its challenges.

New Character Outfits:

Speaking of Kaeya, he and Klee will be receiving new outfits as Travelers can acquire Klee’s “Blossoming Starlight” and Kaeya’s “Sailwind Shadow” character outfits in-game. As it was confirmed that Kaeya's outfit could be obtained from the update's flagship event as a reward, it's likely that Travelers will have to purchase Klee's from the Shop, with pricing to be determined. 

New Gameplay Updates:

The recent Developer Discussion may have revealed that the multi-layered map feature to included in the 4.0 update, and there are several changes arriving in the 3.8 update. These include new optimizations to the Quest system with new quest-tracking capabilities, which allows Travelers to better "orient themselves" with the world.

Quests will gain some new changes, especially how it's displayed within its dedicated menu, letting you organize Archon, Story, and other Quests, thus improving their discoverability. A red dot will be present within the Quest menu, which alerts you of any and all objectives found for Quests.

Travelers will also be able to permanently track Commission Quests based on multiple factors once they've completed a Commission. Hangout Events will receive some tweaks as a Review button will be added once completing one in-game, which lets you see all checkpoints made for a specific path.

There will additionally be optimizations to how Travelers can unlock Quests in-game, as the developers noted many complained about "too many prerequisite quests causing people to not know where to start ." HoYoverse will address this issue soon with ways to alert Travelers to complete prerequisites for Quests and what's outstanding.

Genshin Impact 3.8 Patch Notes – Adjustments & Bug Fixes

Ahead of the launch of the 3.8 update, HoYoverse has released the official patch notes for Travelers to view all incoming content and balance changes made for the game. The latter includes new optimizations for Genius Invokation TCG, audio fixes, system adjustments and more which you can view the complete patch notes below:

System:

  • Optimizes the "Hold to select multiple items" function operation range and instructions on the Enhancement and Destroy interfaces in the Artifact and Weapon pages.
  • For Hangout Events, upon reaching the end of the event and obtaining the Hangout Memory menu, you can use the newly-added "Review Invitation" button to view the narrative checkpoints.
  • Optimizes the Quest-tracking process: When the objective is a certain distance from Travelers, clicking Navigate will open the Map.
  • The objectives for Archon Quests and certain World Quests will now be listed on the map.
  • Optimizes the sorting rules for Archon Quests and certain World Quests.
  • Optimizes the display logic for red dots in the Quest Menu.
  • Commissions can now be tracked persistently. After your tracked Commission Quest comes to an end, the next Commission Quest will automatically be tracked.

Enemies:

  • Adjusts the AoE of the Consecrated Fanged Beast's Lunging Slash skill so that it stays the same as the area of the visual effect.

Audio:

  • Adjusts sound effects for Kirara by softening the effect heard when moving around in the Urgent Neko Parcel state after holding her Elemental Skill.
  • Optimizes certain sound effects in "Genius Invokation TCG."
  • Optimizes the Korean and English voice-over for certain characters and quests.

Genius Invokation TCG:

  • Adjusts the text description for Large Wind Spirits summoned by Elemental Bursts after the Character Card "Sucrose" has equipped a Talent Card in Genius Invokation TCG (to differentiate these from Large Wind Spirits summoned when a Talent Card hasn't been equipped).
  • Adjusts the text description for the Talent Card "I Got Your Back" of the Character Card "Noelle" in Genius Invokation TCG (actual effect remains unchanged).
  • Adjusts the effect of the Equipment Card "Gambler's Earrings" in Genius Invokation TCG: this effect is now limited to 3 times per match.
  • Adjusts the number of Elemental Dice required and DMG dealt by the Elemental Burst of the Character Card "Yoimiya" in Genius Invokation TCG: the number of dice required has decreased from 4 Pyro Dice to 3, and "Deals 4 Pyro DMG" has been adjusted to "Deals 3 Pyro DMG."
  • Adjusts the Elemental Skill DMG of the Character Card "Beidou" as well as the number of Elemental Dice required and DMG dealt by her Elemental Burst in Genius Invokation TCG: for Wavestrider of her Elemental Skill, "Deals 2 Electro DMG" has been adjusted to "Deals 3 Electro DMG"; the number of dice required for her Elemental Burst has decreased from 4 Electro Dice to 3, and "Deals 3 Electro DMG" has been adjusted to "Deals 2 Electro DMG".
  • Adjusts the Elemental Burst DMG of the Character Card "Xiangling" in Genius Invokation TCG: "Deals 2 Pyro DMG" has been adjusted to "Deals 3 Pyro DMG."
  • Adjusts the Energy required and DMG dealt by the Elemental Burst of Character Card "Razor" in Genius Invokation TCG: the Energy required for the Burst has been decreased from 3 to 2, and "Deals 5 Electro DMG" has been adjusted to "Deals 3 Electro DMG."
  • Adjusts the Elemental Skill DMG and Elemental Burst DMG of the Character Card "Eula" in Genius Invokation TCG: for Grimheart of her Elemental Skill, "DMG +2 for this instance" has been adjusted to "DMG +3 for this instance"; for Lightfall Sword of her Elemental Burst, "End Phase: Discard this card and deal 2 Physical DMG" has been adjusted to "End Phase: Discard this card and deal 3 Physical DMG."

Other:

  • Adjusts the collision size of the Spiral Abyss's floor whereby there was a small chance that it would hamper character movements and attacks.
  • Optimizes the display location and size of special effects of certain Elemental applications and Elemental Reactions on enemies.
  • Adjusts visual effects when Dendro Cores appear and burst to reduce the load on system performance.
