UPDATE - Alien's Xenomorph and Ellen Ripley are now live on the Dead by Daylight PTB!
Dead by Daylight releases a Public Test Build with every new chapter they release, and is no different. Three weeks prior to the chapter's scheduled release, Steam players are able to try out all of the few features that will come with the latest chapter, including the new killer from Alien, The Xenomorph, the survivor, Ellen Ripley, and the new map.

Dead By Daylight Chapter 29: Alien PTB Release Time/Date
The Alien PTB started on 8th August 2023 and will go until 15 August 2023.The PTB servers will go live at 08:00 PST, 11:00 EDT, and 16:00 GMT.
The PTB for a chapter usually goes live about three weeks before the chapter's full release on all platforms, meaning that, as the Dead by Daylight Year 8 roadmap promised, Chapter 29: Alien will likely come out in or around late August.
How To Play The Public Test Build (PTB) In Dead by Daylight
If you want to access the Dead by Daylight PTB for yourself, you'll need to have Dead by Daylight on Steam. Note that you can only connect to the PTB while it is live; if there is no active PTB, you will only be able to play the live version of the game.
If you have Steam and the PTB is currently ongoing, here's how to access it:
- Open Steam.
- Open your Library.
- Find Dead by Daylight in your Library and right-click the game.
- Select Properties.
- Select Betas.
- From the dropdown menu, select what is likely the only option (Public Tests).
- Close the window.
Now that you've selected the PTB, it will begin downloading. Once it's downloaded, you can open up the game to play Dead by Daylight on the PTB. To switch back to the live build, just go back into the game's Properties and select 'none' instead of the PTB.
