Who Reveals First In Marvel Snap?

Here is how you can know who will reveal their cards first in Marvel Snap.
Who Reveals First In Marvel Snap?

Marvel Snap has many unique and interesting cards to test and play with. Alongside many other mechanics and keywords for players to get their heads around, one of the most important features in Marvel Snap is the "Who Reveals First" mechanic. After each player plays their card face down, the card will flip upright, and its effect will activate one after the other. This means whichever card flips up first will have its effect come into play first.

Revealing your card, either first or second, can be beneficial or detrimental, depending on the situation. Unfortunately, the game does a very poor job of explaining this mechanic to players in Marvel Snap. That's where we come in. This article will cover everything you need to know about the Who Reveals First mechanic in Marvel Snap!

How To Know Who Reveals First In Marvel Snap

To know who will reveal first in Marvel Snap, you need to look at each player's name at the top of the screen. One player will have a glowing outline around their name, indicating that this player will reveal first on the upcoming turn.

However, to decide who will reveal their cards in the future, the game uses the current power level on the board to determine who is in 1st place. So essentially, the game looks at the current board state and imagines, "If the game ended right now, who would win?" Therefore, whichever player is currently in the winning position is the player that will reveal their cards first.

This is determined by who has two winning locations or, in the case of a tie, who has the most power. At the start of the game, when the board is empty, or if no two locations are winning and there is a tie in total power, the reveal order will be assigned randomly.

Playing to have priority or not is a key component of Marvel Snap's metagame. For example, having priority with a card like Professor X is great for stamping out those pesky Brood and Jubilee players who want to add other cards to the same location.

Alternatively, having second priority with a card like Shang-Chi is advantageous for killing off your opponent's huge turn-six power play, such as She-Hulk or The Infinaut. In some cases, holding off on playing cards to achieve second priority going into turn six is a very viable strategy for control decks.

And that's everything you need to know about the Marvel Snap reveal order mechanic!
