This new cinematic from Destiny 2 Season of the Deep answers quite a few questions not only about The Witness but also The Veil and plenty more unanswered questions from Destiny 2 Lightfall.
Whilst we're certainly going to get more answers before The Final Shape releases next year, this does potentially provide plenty more insight into where the game could progress in the coming months.

Destiny 2 The Final Shape Release Date Window Speculation
At the time of writing, there is no official confirmed release date for Destiny 2 The Final Shape, but in this article, you’ll find all (if any) information that the developer shared, as well as some speculation from Ginx on when we could see it launch.
Destiny 2 The Final Shape is slated to release in the first half of 2024. Destiny's last two expansions targeted late February releases, which could also be the case for The Final Shape.
Destiny 2 The Final Shape Story
As mentioned above, The Final Shape will conclude Destiny 2's ongoing Light and Darkness saga storyline. Sadly, not much is known about this upcoming expansion. In fact, "The Final Shape" may just be a working title and not an official one.
We do, however, know that The Final Shape will wrap up the current story arcs of some of the prominent characters. After the Final Shape, Bungie plans to soft-reboot the game and make it more accessible to newcomers.
The Witch Queen expansion revealed the primary antagonist of the Light and Darkness saga - The Witness, about whom we will learn more in the Lightfall expansion.
It seems like the Guardians and The Witness will finally collide once and for all in The Final Shape expansion and completely change the Destiny universe in the process.
Destiny 2 The Final Shape Platforms
While Bungie has yet to officially reveal the platforms on which The Final Shape will be releasing on, fans could expect it to land on pretty much all the systems Destiny 2 is available on except Google Stadia.
In an unexpected announcement, Google revealed that it was shutting down its cloud-based gaming services on 18th January 2023. Bungie has since then revealed that it's actively discussing the future of Destiny 2 stadia players and will announce more when it's ready.
