New Characters Coming With Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 6?
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 5 is now out, and it added THREE brand new characters to the game in Kamek, Petey Piranha and Wiggler. This follows the addition of Birdo in Wave 4.
However, as fans noticed, the Wave 4 Update also added five more mystery character slots to the character select screen.
It would suggest we'll see another 2 characters added to the game for the final Wave 6 DLC. For now though, there are no suggestions as to which characters could be added to the game.
Mario Kart Wave 6 Release Date Window
At the moment, there is no release date for wave 6 of the Mario Kart 8 DLC.
Typically, the waves of DLC come out every few months. Nintendo has confirmed that all six waves of DLC will be out by the end of 2023. That means we have two waves left and it's likely Nintendo will follow a similar release schedule as the first 3 waves released in 2022.
The table shows us when the previous DLC waves were released and when we expect to see Wave 6 launch.
Mario Kart 8 Booster Course | Release Date |
Wave 1 | March 18, 2022 |
Wave 2 | August 4, 2022 |
Wave 3 | December 7, 2022 |
Wave 4 | March 9, 2023 |
Wave 5 | July 12, 2023 |
Wave 6 | TBC - November 2023? |
Personally, we think Nintendo might target a November 2023 release for Wave 6, potentially with a Mario Kart 9 teaser dropping at The Game Awards in December 2023. That's merely speculation on our part, but it's certainly an exciting prospect.
