Marvel Snap Patch Notes (August 2023): All Updates, Buffs, Nerfs Listed

Here are the latest patch notes and game update changes for Marvel Snap!
Marvel Snap Patch Notes (August 2023): All Updates, Buffs, Nerfs Listed
Second Dinner

Marvel Snap is an incredibly balanced game with a ton of variety when it comes to competitive decks. While certain cards and decklists will inevitably rise to the top, there is enough variety to keep Discard, Destroy, On Reveal, and even Move enthusiasts satisfied. That being said, there are a select few cards in Marvel Snap that will periodically dominate the metagame. The developers at Second Dinner are never afraid to make some major nerfs to keep it more balanced. For instance, recent changes have been more tailored toward power adjustments - changing stats as opposed to effects.

Unless something is well and truly broken - in which case it will be fixed in a Marvel Snap weekly OTA update - the developers at Second Dinner will release these more major patches to the game on a monthly basis, which will also include more traditional updates and bug fixes at the same time. For everything you need to know about the latest changes to the game, read on.

The Latest Marvel Snap Patch Notes

In the drop-down below you'll find the most recent patch notes for the game in 2023.

Of course, this is the last 'major' monthly patch notes released by the devs at Second Dinner, so will not include the weekly balance updates which are released OTA (over the air) on Thursdays.

We're only including the most recent patch notes here, because we simply can't handle a page with over 9000 words. So if you're really desperate to read the old patch notes from previous months, we suggest heading over to Marvel Snap's Newslist and filtering by 'Game Updates'.

BALANCE UPDATES

CARD UPDATES

  • Cable
  • [Old] 2/2 – On Reveal: Put the bottom card of your opponent’s deck into your hand.
  • [New] 2/2 – On Reveal: Draw the top card of your opponent’s deck.

Developer Note: The change to America Chavez starting on the bottom of the deck was predictably damaging to Cable, as drawing your opponent’s Chavez was usually good for them, not you. We didn’t value that too highly because Cable’s play rate was already low, but that was a mistake on our part. Conquest has shown that players really enjoy playing with cards that can give them an information advantage against their opponents. This is a simple enough change, just going to the other end of the deck, but we’ve also gone ahead and updated the template to reflect the action Cable is actually taking, which is drawing a card.

  • Magik
  • [Old] 3/2 – You can’t play this on turn 6. On Reveal: Change this location to ‘Limbo’.
  • [New] 3/2 – On Reveal: Replace this location with ‘Limbo’. Doesn’t work after turn 5.

Developer Note: Our OTA on 7/20 mentioned this was coming, and here it is! This isn’t a large change to Magik, mostly just making her a legal card to play on turn 6. However, it’s worth noting that the VFX behavior has changed a little bit. She used to light up with fire on the last turn you could play her, but now that corona will indicate whether or not you’ll be able to create Limbo based on the turn count.

  • Mister Negative
  • [Old] 4/-1 – On Reveal: Swap the Power and Cost of all cards in your deck.
  • [New] Gameplay Change: Caps Costs at a maximum of 6. (no text change)

Developer Note: This is a minor change to improve players’ quality of life by adding consistency to in-game interactions. The Peak location has this cap, which it needs because otherwise many cards would become literally impossible to play when the location appears. Mister Negative doesn’t expressly need it, because his decks are built to minimize Power in-deck. However, it’s intuitive for that location and this card to function the same, so we’re lining them up. Plus, it makes Jane Foster shells a little less risky.

  • Rogue
  • [Old] 3/2 – On Reveal: Steal an Ongoing ability from a random enemy card at this location.
  • [New] Gameplay Change: Now triggers On Reveals if the copied Ongoing card had one. (no text change)

Developer Note: As mentioned when we changed Mystique in the previous patch, Rogue is receiving an update to bring players’ expectation around copying card text via On Reveal in line with the outcome. Moving forward, we expect cards that copy text when they Reveal to consistently trigger the On Reveals of cards they copy.

  • Spider-Man
  • [Old] 5/4 – On Reveal: Your opponent can’t play cards at this location next turn.
  • [New] 3/5 – On Reveal: Move to another location and pull an enemy card from here to there.

Developer Note: All right, this is a big one. Let’s start on the mechanical angle: the previous Spider-Man incarnation was a polarizing card. It prevented your opponent from playing cards at a location, a frustrating experience. It was most popular following Wave into Galactus or in “lockdown” decks, which are both decks that use combinations of cards to reduce the total play space of the game for your opponent. We want some of that–the game needs a variety of strategies. But we don’t want those decks or even one of those cards to be the best in the game. Our best cards should be cool and awesome.

But you know who’s cool and awesome? Spider-Man!

There’s an irreconcilable dissonance in having one of the most popular characters in the Marvel canon attached to an effect we don’t want to be popular. Discovering Spider-Man in our game should be a great experience. Since launch, we’ve also added more Spider-Verse to the game and seen players enjoy the theme of movement for those cards. So we’re making a change and bringing Peter in line with the rest with a new ability. Will we return the old ability to the game on a new card? Maybe, but for now let’s go with no–it’s not been adding much fun.

We don’t take this kind of rework to a card lightly, so we’re happy to hear your feedback through all the usual channels. We don’t intend to start suddenly remaking tons of cards, but understanding your feelings may help us better understand the appropriate thresholds for this action in the future.

  • “Evolved” The Thing
  • [Old] 4/6 – On Reveal: Afflict a random enemy card here with -1 Power. Repeat this twice more
  • [New] 4/6 – On Reveal: Afflict 3 random enemy cards here with -1 Power.

Developer Note: High Evolutionary has mostly landed in a healthy spot since we made the tweaks to Hulk and Wasp during the last patch, but this is one more small twist of the dial. Cyclops has been really strong still, but we like keeping him strong in High Evolutionary shells based on ensuring a character with his popularity has a solid and satisfying home. The Thing has actually outperformed Scott a bit lately, and this change also makes the afflict curve from Wasp into Cyclops into Thing more elegant, distributing -1 Power to one more card at each stop. It’s a slight buff to Abomination, but a slight nerf to The Thing’s strength as a single card attacking a location.

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed a bug that would cause Mirror Dimension to repeatedly morph into another Mirror Dimension in a loop.
  • Fixed a bug that would cause players to get stuck on an old Season Pass season.
  • Performance improvements and UI/UX bug fixes.

KNOWN ISSUE LIST

  • For Windows: Controller and Arrow Keys are unsupported. This may impact Steam Deck usability as it will only be usable with touch controls.
  • Using Multi-Upgrade only counts as 1 Upgrade for the “Upgrade a Card” Mission.

BALANCE UPDATES

Other than High Evolutionary over-performing and being a bit too popular for its own good, we don't have a lot of pressing issues to address in the metagame at this time. Many of these changes are to improve clarity and expectations surrounding cards that can have unusual interactions.

CARD UPDATES

High Evolutionary

For the last month, High Evolutionary has proven itself strong enough to support three distinct decks within the metagame. Some are better than others, and none of the three are explicitly problematic in Ranked play on any of our metrics, but we think there's still room to improve diversity at the top of the metagame. Even if each High Evolutionary deck is different, it can feel monotonous to get paired against them in succession. To that end, we're shaving some Power off the two most-played cards in the kit.

  • "Evolved" Wasp
  • [Old] 0/1 - On Reveal: Afflict 2 random enemy cards here with -1 Power.
  • [New] 0/1 - On Reveal: Afflict a random enemy card here with -1 Power.

Developer Note: Pretty simple–Wasp is too good. Wasp is specifically fantastic in conjunction with Lockjaw and Jane Foster, playing a more like a +4 bonus on two Lockjaw rolls than just an 0/3. However, she's also winning more cubes overall than any other High Evolutionary card, so we're weakening her to meaningfully impact all of these decks.

  • "Evolved" Hulk
  • [Old] 6/12 - Ongoing: +2 Power for each turn you ended with unspent Energy.
  • [New] 6/12 - When you end a turn with unspent Energy, +2 Power. (if in hand or in play)

Developer Note: Similarly, Hulk appears in every High Evolutionary shell we've been monitoring, and Hulk strongest there is–even given the unfortunate bug that doesn't count the last turn of the game, should you happen to have an Energy to spare. This adjustment will remove that issue and also reduce the average Power of Hulk, especially in Lockjaw shells where players could often accumulate Energy without ever drawing Hulk at all.

We recognize these adjustments may not be as harsh as some players expected, and we'll continue keeping a close eye on High Evolutionary in the weeks to come.

Gambit

  • [Old] 3/1 - On Reveal: Discard a card from your hand. Destroy a random enemy card.
  • [New] 3/3 - On Reveal: Discard a card from your hand. Destroy a random enemy card.
  • Now must discard a card to destroy anything (no text change)

Developer Note: For some time now, players have noted a confusing dissonance between Gambit's effect destroying cards whether you discard a card or not, while Arnim Zola must destroy his target in order to create copies of it. In addition to being inconsistent, Gambit's creative concept is "throwing" cards at your enemies–if you have no cards to throw, why would it work? Since this is a nerf, and Gambit's not a highly-played card, we're compensating him for that loss with +2 Power. The Wong combo decks will suffer a bit, and perhaps need to start including something like Apocalypse or Swarm if they want to blow up the board. However, using Gambit in more traditional decks might be an interesting option.

Mystique

  • [New] Gameplay Change: Now triggers On Reveals if the copied Ongoing card had one (no text change).

Developer Note: Similarly, this is a change to better line up players' intuitions with outcomes. Whenever a card in our game copies an ability, it implicitly copies the whole text box. When Absorbing Man copies a card with an On Reveal and an Ongoing ability, like Soul Stone or Electro, he gets both, immediately. But when Mystique does, she gets the On Reveal ability without triggering it–even though she was just played, like Absorbing Man. This doesn't come up often, but we consider it a quality of life improvement. We'll also make this adjustment to Rogue, just trying it here first.

Nakia

  • [Old] 3/2 - On Reveal: Give the 2 leftmost cards in your hand +2 Power.
  • [New] 3/3 - On Reveal: Give all cards in your hand +1 Power.

Developer Note: Nakia has been underperforming for a while now, a far cry from her days of dominance during the game's beta period. In addition, her affect was a little complex, especially for a card debuting in Series 2. We're trying to address both of those issues with this change, making Nakia a stronger, simpler card to play with. Maybe she finds a new home in the competitive metagame, maybe not–time will tell.

  • Text-Only Updates

The below adjustments are just to improve how a few cards are worded, to better align with our learnings around what makes SNAP cards clear, consistent, and easy to read. We'll continue making updates in this vein over time.

Black Bolt

  • [Old] On Reveal: Your opponent must discard the lowest-Cost card in their hand.
  • [New] On Reveal: Discard the lowest-cost card from your opponent's hand.

Developer Note: There is an unresolved inconsistency present in this text regarding the capitalization of the word "Cost." We're continuing to look into that for other cards.

Black Cat

  • [Old] If this is in your hand at the end of your turn, discard it.
  • [New] If you end the turn with this in your hand, discard it.

Bucky Barnes

  • [Old] When this is destroyed, create the Winter Soldier in its place.
  • [New] When this is destroyed, replace it with the Winter Soldier.

Cerebro

  • [Old] Ongoing: Your highest Power cards get +2 Power.
  • [New] Ongoing: Your highest-Power cards have +2 Power.

Developer Note: This is standard language for passive Power increases.

Doctor Strange

  • [Old] On Reveal: Move your highest Power cards to this location.
  • [New] On Reveal: Move your highest-Power card(s) to this location.

Kraven

  • [Old] When a card moves here, this gets +2 Power.
  • [New] When a card moves here, this gains +2 Power.

Developer Note: This is standard language for triggered Power increases.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue that was causing matchmaking queue times for the last rounds of Conquests to be excessive.
  • Fixed a number of Conquest UI/UX issues and performance.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed the Weekly Spotlight card to be purchased more than once.
  • Fixed an issue with Mystery Series 3 Card purchases if you have collected all Series 3 cards.

  • Removed a very unexpected third hand from one of Spider-Man's variants.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented new users from getting 3 bonus ranks upon hitting level 10 for the first time.
  • Fixed an issue where Living Tribunal would mishandle the max power cap and show locations with negative power causing the player to lose.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing Living Tribunal to take effect before the card was revealed.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing Black Bolt to always discard the leftmost card in the event that several cards of the same cost were targets.
  • When an opponent's Maria Hill draws a card it now correctly has a card back.
  • Updated Nebula's VFX to trigger before cards are revealed rather than after.
  • Fixed an issue with Lockjaw overlapping with Ongoing cards.

BALANCE UPDATES

We’ve got one major change this week, and two smaller adjustments we anticipate will make some of our lesser-played cards a lot more fun. We know this patch is coming a couple weeks after High Evolutionary’s release, but bear in mind we implemented these changes well in advance of his release, so we’ll be using OTAs and our next patch to address changes that may be related to that card’s impact on the metagame.

CARD UPDATES

- Galactus:

  • [Old] 6/2 – On Reveal: If this is your only card here, destroy all other locations.
  • [New] 6/7 – On Reveal: If you’re winning this location and this is your only card here, destroy all other locations.

Galactus is a card we’ve kept a close eye on since release. His ability warps the game, changing the goal for both players from claiming two locations to waging war around cards that “counter” him/his finishers and priority. We don’t mind mixing things up a bit from time to time in that regard, but Galactus’s play rate was moving past the thresholds we set to determine both competitive diversity and also how frequently the game gets reduced to that state. Because Galactus is inherently counterable, we waited to see if the metagame could sort itself out, but it hasn’t. Galactus’s popularity has increased, his winrate has only grown, and many players don’t even enjoy beating him–these are problems worth solving.

The original design for Galactus is difficult to rebalance, because it has essentially one value we can adjust: Power. However, lower Power can mean that Galactus always loses priority, making post-Galactus counters like Shang-Chi or Enchantress difficult to play. Meanwhile, increases may let you beat these cards more naturally, especially Professor X. Either way, it’s still all about the counters. We considered making him the first true 7-Cost card, but that was just less fun and weaker with the same issues. We also considered full redesigns for Galactus but didn’t find anything that cleared our bar, which is very high.

Ultimately, we decided to make Power a functional way for us to tune Galactus, which led us to this additional “winning” restriction. Caring about winning this way lets players contest Galactus within the core fun of SNAP–using Power to challenge for locations. Relying exclusively on counters is frustrating because neither player has much control over their appearance, but every deck should have the ability to muster 7 Power. We expect he’ll be stronger in decks that play him on turn 6 after Hobgoblin or Nimrod, but worse in the stronger, more popular Galactus archetypes. If this change proves too much or too little, it’s also given us the ability to tune him further via OTA and find the healthiest spot.

- Maria Hill:

  • [Old] 2/3 – On Reveal: Add a random 1-Cost card to your hand.
  • [New] 2/3 – On Reveal: Add a random 1 or 2-Cost card to your hand.

We’re giving Maria Hill the ability to roll a 2-Cost card primarily to make her a better thematic parallel to Agent Coulson. We expect this to be a slight buff as you’ll occasionally get a better card from her, and half the time your Quinjet will provide a discount in those scenarios too. Not a huge mover, but a more enjoyable card.

- Dazzler:

  • [Old] 4/4 – Ongoing: If you have 4 cards at each location, +6 Power.
  • [New] 3/2 – Ongoing: +2 Power for each location that’s full on your side.

Dazzler’s old ability didn’t give enough of a boost to reflect the level of investment that filling your board demands, and never really found a home competing against many of our strongest 4-Cost cards. We decided to give her more incremental boosts as you fill locations, which also lets her benefit from Space Throne, and shifted her rate to 3-Cost. In addition to changing up the competition, she may have a home alongside Brood with Silver Surfer, in Patriot with Ultron, or other shells.

BALANCE UPDATES

This is a light week relative to the excitement of recent patches. The metagame as April ended featured a diverse metagame with healthy win rates and cube gain rates, and only a couple small popularity outliers. We’ll have more news for you soon on the future of our OTA balance patches, but today is mostly just a couple card reworks.

  • [Old] 1/0 – You can return this to your hand to gain +2 Power.
  • [New] 1/0 – When this returns to your hand, +2 Power. Returns at the start of each turn.

As we previously announced, Kitty Pryde will be returning to the game this week with her new ability. She’ll be Series 5 and awarded to all active accounts today.

Crystal

  • [Old] 4/4 – On Reveal: If this is at the middle location, shuffle your hand into your deck and draw 3 cards.
  • [New] 4/4 – On Reveal: Each player draws a card.

Crystal has been one of a handful of cards seeing incredibly low play and win rates for quite some time now, and an obvious buff candidate. We debated maintaining the direction of the current effect by removing the middle restriction, increasing the cards drawn, etc. But the tricky thing is that we don’t want an effect like Crystal’s to be strong. SNAP decks are only 12 cards and we don’t want those cards to play out the same every time, so we’re very careful about letting players draw cards. This rework aimed to make a simple, appropriate Crystal that could be fun alongside a variety of cards.

Wave

  • [Old] 3/3 – On Reveal: Next turn, cards in both players’ hands cost 4.
  • [New] 3/3 – On Reveal: All cards cost 4 until the end of next turn.

Wave’s cost reduction occurs after other effects that reduce card costs. In addition to a text update that clarifies when Wave’s effect begins, we’ve also made a rather large adjustment “under the hood.” Wave will now begin to apply after effects that reduce card costs, rather than before. That means She-Hulk, Death, etc. will always cost 4 while Wave is in effect. We don’t take lightly that this change kills a few decks, but Wave has been far too constraining on our ability to use cost reduction as a synergy reward in future designs. Leaning on Wave is just always better than dedicating your deck to the actual synergy–we’ve seen that with Death since both cards went live, and we’ll continue seeing it without this action.

Death

  • [Old] 9/12 – Costs 1 less for each card destroyed this game.
  • [New] 8/12 – Costs 1 less for each card destroyed this game.

As Death’s current performance is essentially dependent on Wave and Galactus, we wanted to improve her playability in other decks now that the interaction with Wave has changed. This may not be enough, and if we see Death take a huge dive we’ll come back and look at how these values can be adjusted further to ensure Death remains a meaningful card for dedicated Destroy decks.

White Queen (Text-only change)

  • [Old text] 4/6 – On Reveal: Draw a copy of the highest-Cost card in your opponent’s hand.
  • [New text] 4/6 – On Reveal: Copy the highest-Cost card in your opponent’s hand into your hand.

This is just a text revision to resolve some ongoing confusion about what White Queen exactly does and how it interacts with cards like Widow’s Bite. In the future, we may pursue establishing some kind of shorthand for copying a card into your hand, but for now we’re just going with the clearest expression of the card’s function.

Marvel Snap April 2023 Patch Notes

PATCH HIGHLIGHTS

- Token Shop Updates

  • Weekly Spotlight: When a new Series 5 card is released, it will be immediately featured in its own section for its first week in MARVEL SNAP. Once you buy the Weekly Spotlight card, this section will be hidden until the next new card is released. If you want the newest cards at release, here’s what you’ve been waiting for!

  • Ultimate Variants are some of the most epic variants in the game. We felt they deserved their own section too! We’re moving Ultimate Variants out of the way of seeing Series 4 and 5 cards and into their own rotation for those of you who want to make your decks that much cooler.

  • Series 4 & Series 5: This section functions nearly the same as previously, but only features Series 4 and Series 5 cards. This section will feature a card you don’t own from all currently available Series 4/5 cards and rotates every 8 hours. Series 5 cards will be added to this section once they leave the Weekly Spotlight.

  • When inspecting cards in-game, you can now “flip” them to see the Card Back in full detail. We’ve also updated other areas of viewing Card Backs to show their 3D details.

BALANCE UPDATES

In the wake of our last balance change, we saw the metagame settle into a much healthier shape than it had been before. However, we were too shallow with our adjustments to the Shuri-Taskmaster decks, and Lockjaw-Leech shells (both with and without Thanos) have remained solid contenders. Today’s changes aim to push both of those decks off their clear top spots. Outside of Shuri-Taskmaster, the metagame is looking healthy on our internal metrics.

CARD UPDATES

- Shuri:

  • [Previous] 4/2 – On Reveal: Double the Power of the next card you play.

  • [Update] 4/2 – On Reveal: If you play your next card here, double its Power.

Developer Comments: We considered a number of changes to Shuri, but they all tended to ruin her current decks. Some even theoretically risked making a new monster with different parts–that’s not a great risk to run when balancing a problematically strong card. The change we’re making today may seem small and subtle, but we expect it to be impactful and retain the same flow of play for her existing decks, which is a consistent goal in our balance philosophy. This nerf removes Cosmo’s protective capacity for her target, makes single-card answers like Valkyrie easier to aim, and indirectly buffs lane control elements like Professor X. We’re taking a risk here in that this nerf could leave Shuri still a strength outlier–if so, we’ll react quickly.

- Leech:

  • [Previous] 5/3 – On Reveal: Remove the abilities from all cards in your opponent’s hand.

  • [Update] 5/3 – At the start of turn 6, remove all abilities from cards in your opponent’s hand.

Developer Comments: It’s never been our goal for Leech to be a heavily-played card, and we understand that’s been a frustration lately. When it’s happening, it usually means a finisher is generically strong against pure Power (like Leech-Leader) and/or a deck can play Leech earlier than turn 5 too often (like Lockjaw-Thanos). We’ve tried in the past to weaken the stronger cards in those decks, but it’s been a balance and design obstacle. Thus, we’ve decided to remove the “early Leech” from the equation. Leech is designed to counter some powerful endgame cards and combinations from a unique angle without any setup, which is important to have around in the event those decks begin to overperform. This change should let him fulfill that role when necessary without ever making him a foundational piece of the metagame.

- Lockjaw:

  • [Previous] 3/2 – After you play a card here, swap it with a card in your deck.

  • [Update] 3/2 – After you play a card here, swap it with a card in your deck. (once per turn)

Developer Comments: Lockjaw’s a fun and exciting card, but each trigger of this good boy basically draws a card and “generates” up to 6 Energy at random. That’s a lot of variance to have in multiple competitive decks! As we add cards, new and improved ways to sidestep Lockjaw’s risks will also become available. Since we believe the most powerful and frustrating use of Lockjaw is triggering him multiple times in a turn, often with a snap along the way, we’re changing that. Limiting Lockjaw to one swap each turn forces the player to develop their board without letting them sprint ahead or spring a late surprise. This will make Lockjaw simpler to play against and less potent in decks incidentally playing lots of cheap cards, like Thanos.

- America Chavez:

  • [Previous] 6/9 – You always draw this card on turn 6, and not before

  • [Update] 6/9 – Starts on the bottom of your deck. Draw this on turn 6.

Developer Comments: Previously, if you were about to draw America Chavez, you would just draw your next card instead. This means that over the course of the game, she’s a lot more likely to be the top card of your deck. Thus far this has been largely unimportant outside of Yondu, but it does restrict our ability to print cards that interact with the top of your deck. We expect this update to have little impact on America Chavez’s functionality overall.

- Jubilee:

  • [Previous] 4/1 – On Reveal: Add a card from your deck to this location.

  • [Update] 4/1 – On Reveal: Add the top card of your deck to this location.

Developer Comments: Some of our players may remember a time where Jubilee had this ability! Back then, Jubilee would often be a 4/10 as she’d pull America Chavez very consistently. We decided at the time to change Jubilee’s effect instead of America Chavez’s, as the former was a much simpler change to communicate. However, we’re looking to design cards that interact with the top of your deck in the future, so we’re bringing this design back too! We expect this update to have little impact on Jubilee for the time being.

- Leader:

  • [Previous] 6/7 – On Reveal: Copy all cards your opponent played to the location right of here, but on your side.

  • [Update] 6/2 – On Reveal: Copy the enemy card(s) with the highest Power played this turn, but on your side.

Developer Comments: We were clearly too harsh on Leader with his previous nerf, and we’re dismayed that action became a go-to example for how ruinous a nerf can be. Our balance philosophy is to preserve as much playability as we reasonably can when weakening cards, and we didn’t succeed here previously. With this change, we’re aiming to bring his strength back up to a playable spot for a 6-Cost card, but still avoid the oppressive impact his original form had. We have erred on the cautious side with his Power for now because some previous defenses against the original Leader, such as playing weaker cards before a strong one, no longer apply.

Marvel Snap
Balance patches in Marvel Snap happen around the same time as the Series Drop. (Picture: Nuverse)

When Is The Next Marvel Snap Balance Patch

For those of you who are really curious, Marvel Snap receives a new patch every month. As per the developer, these normally occur "every four weeks" and will always be released on Tuesdays.

The last Marvel Snap patch was released on 12 July 2023. With this in mind, we predict the next Marvel Snap Patch will be released on 8 August 2023.

Do note, these patches are completely separate from the Over the Air updates the game receives each week, and will focus on major changes or fixes to the game. Of course, these more major updates are likely to contain a few card updates as well, with Second Dinner attempting to improve both over and underperforming cards.

This is fairly standard practice for card games, and regular balance patches are always welcome, especially when a certain card or deck is oppressing the meta.

Not much is known yet about any potential compensation for nerfs to Season Pass cards, but the likelihood is that no compensation will be given to players who purchased these cards. Fluctuating stats and effects are par for the course in other digital TCGs, and nerfing overpowered cards is much better for the overall health and longevity of the game.
